Yenagoa to host NFF Extraordinary General Assembly on Monday

Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State (the glory of all lands), is set to host this year’s Extraordinary General Assembly of the Nigerian Football Federation on Monday, March 23, 2026.

His Excellency the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, will declare open the extraordinary general meeting at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa.

the chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; NSC Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade; Chairman of the Senate Sports Committee, Senator Abdul Ningi and; Chairman of the Sports Committee of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Amadu is among the top dignitaries expected for the occasion.

The Extraordinary General Assembly, like the Annual General Assembly, brings together all the Presidents and Secretaries of the Football Associations of the 36 States and the FCT, with the assistance of all the Members of the Executive Committee and the Management of the NFF, as well as the presidents and secretaries of the different Leagues, the Coaches Association, the Referees Association and the Players Union.

NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON) will deliver a welcome address to the plenary before the business session.

During the business session, Congress will deliberate on amendments to the current NFF Statutes, the NFF Electoral Code and the General Assembly Rules. There will be appointments of members of the NFF Electoral Committee and the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee, as well as the appointment of the NFF Independent Auditor.

Officials from world football governing body, FIFA, and continental governing body, CAF, are already in Nigeria to observe the proceedings of the 2026 NFF Extraordinary General Assembly.
