AWCON: Ex-Super Falcons star reminds Tinubu about rewards

Former United States of America (USA) based Super Falcons striker, Patience Avre-Odeli, has reminded the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to add former national football team players who previously dominated the African women’s football scene to the list of his reward plans.

The former Ufuoma Babes FC of Warri and Princess Jegede Babes FC of Lagos forward has reiterated his appeals to President Tinubu after players of the D’Tigress women’s national basketball team received land certificates promised to them by the government following successful matches in continental matches such as the Super Falcons.

In a press release issued from his base in the United States, Avre praised Tinubu for keeping his promise to Nigeria’s sportspeople, arguing that the gesture will motivate the country’s representatives on the international stage to do their best to excel.

He said: “On behalf of the former Super Falcons stars, I begin by thanking our beloved president for keeping the land promise made to D’Tigress. This is a great motivation for the team, and I know they would also receive one hundred thousand dollars per player as promised.”

Speaking further, she said: “I am also sure that the Super Falcons who won the last WAFCON in Morocco will soon be fully rewarded by the President. But the former Super Falcons who had won African titles on many occasions also deserve appreciation and compensation from President Tinubu.

The four-time WAFCON winner said President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda mantra should include appreciating or honoring former Super Falcons who went unrewarded while dominating African women’s football for nine years.

According to her, former Super Falcons such as Aysat Yusuf, Martha Tarhemba, Prisca Emeafu, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Yinka Kudaisi, Rita Nwadike, Phoebe Ebiemokumor and many others are fervently praying for President Tinubu to honor and reward past heroines who won many WAFCON titles for Nigeria.
