MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT: Russia denies sending drones to Iran

Russian authorities have denied reports that the country plans to send drones to Iran amid conflict in the Middle East region.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that a Financial Times report that it was close to completing drone deliveries to Iran was a “lie”.

Russia is a close ally of Iran, but has denied sending military aid to its partner since the United States and Israel began attacking the country in February.

“There are so many lies being spread by the media… Don’t pay attention to them,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters while answering questions.

The Financial Times, which published the report on Wednesday, quoted Western intelligence officials as saying that Russia was in the process of sending drones to Tehran and would complete the delivery by the end of March.

The Washington Post previously reported that Moscow had provided sensitive intelligence information to Tehran, including the location of US warships and aircraft in the region.
