Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has picked Czech Republic Pardubice defender Emmanuel Godwin for a place in his under-23 team and possibly the Super Eagles.
We can exclusively reveal that Chelle received good reports on the 21-year-old from his scouts over the weekend as they monitored Banik Ostrava defender Abdullahi Bewene.
It was Godwin who took the praise with his speed, strength, tackling and also his use of the ball, playing a huge role in his team’s 2-1 lead. There were eight consecutive games in the League.
The idea from what we gathered is to see him closely with the U23 team, when they begin their AFCON U23 qualifiers in November, however, there is still a possibility of him being part of the Super Eagles squad for the match against Russia.
Chelle will parade most of the players he intends to use in his under-23 team in the match against Russia on October 6, and Godwin has been highly recommended ahead of the match.
