Renowned sports journalist Adewale Ajayi to search for hidden talents in North America as NSC appoints him to Diaspora Talent Discovery Committee

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has constituted a high-level Diaspora Talent Discovery Committee, drawing on a group of experienced Nigerian sports professionals and stakeholders from around the world to strengthen talent identification and engagement beyond the country’s borders.

The Committee is chaired by UK-based sports administrator, Dr. Tunde Adelakun, who previously worked with the Nigeria national football team and the Benin national football team. His appointment was due to the NSC’s determination to leverage global expertise to enhance Nigeria’s sports development framework.

To further this vision, the Commission has now revealed the full membership of the Committee, comprised of individuals with strong diaspora networks, influence and proven track record in sports and related fields.

Members include respected sports journalist Colin Udoh, retired track and field star Olusoji Fasuba, former athlete Marilyn Okoro, table tennis legend Olufunke Oshonaike and former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana.

Also on the Committee are former Nigeria international goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, UK-based sports development advocate Ahmed Muhammed, taekwondo athlete Jordan Joel, Mr. Oyilei Orode, Canada-based journalist Adewale Ajayi, Ayodele Ibidapo, a renowned UK-based journalist and Clement Nwakpa, who will serve as the Committee’s Media Officer.

The leadership of the Committee is further strengthened with the appointment of Abigail Marshall Katung as First Vice President, David Omigie as Second Vice President and former D’Tigress Captain Sarah Ogoke as Third Vice President.

The Diaspora Talent Discovery Committee is expected to play a pivotal role in identifying, engaging and integrating Nigerian diaspora athletes into the country’s sporting ecosystem, thereby expanding the country’s talent pool and boosting international competitiveness.
