KADGIS has resolved over 5,000 land disputes in more than 3 years – DG

The Director General of the Kaduna Geographical Information Service (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, has revealed that the agency has resolved over 5,000 land disputes and restored more than 150 titles that were unjustly revoked in the last three and a half years.

Ibrahim, who disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Kaduna, said Governor Uba Sani had tasked the agency to resolve all cases inherited from past administrations.

The KADGIS chief also said the agency has introduced reforms to ease land administration in the state.

“Registration and accreditation of real estate agents is one of the key reforms, including the provision of National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) for processing land titles,” he said.

He further noted that communities displaced in Alhudahuda Zaria, following the demolition of 92 houses in 2015, had been allocated alternative plots.

“The dispute between the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria and the Graceland community, where over 200 properties were demolished in 2021 for alleged land encroachment, has also been resolved,” he said.

Ibrahim said new land titles and alternative plots have been granted to former residents of Malali low-cost area, Kaduna, whose 80 houses were demolished in 2021.

He noted that the land titles of the CANES properties had been restored, adding that the SCOA had been allocated alternative plots in Kudenden, just as the dispute between Olam and the host community had been resolved.

He said the meeting attended by professional bodies, traditional leaders, land agents, government agencies and other stakeholders, was convened to strengthen transparency, efficiency and citizen-centric land administration in Kaduna State.
