The police rescue the kidnapped victim and neutralize the suspect

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, in synergy with other security forces, have successfully rescued a kidnapped woman.

Operatives also neutralized one of the kidnapping suspects and recovered incriminating exhibits in Udenu Local Government Area (LGA) on Friday.

The successful rescue of the victim, neutralization of the suspect and recovery followed the receipt of credible information about the abduction of the victim at around 3.30pm in Ezimo community in Udenu Local Government Area.

The Police Spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, who disclosed this in a statement, stressed that following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Udenu Division promptly mobilized a joint security team comprising police officers, Nigerian Army soldiers, neighborhood guard and forest rangers, who trailed the suspects into Agu Orba forest along the Ohebe-Orba axis of the LGA of Udenu.

“Upon sighting the officers, the thugs opened fire, but the officers responded with superior firepower, neutralizing one of the suspects, while the others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

“As a result, the abducted victim was successfully rescued unharmed, interrogated and reunited with his family.

“The recovered exhibits include five (5) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one (1) long machete, one (1) short dagger, four (4) mobile phones, four (4) torches, two (2) power banks, two (2) memory cards, the sum of Fifty Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (₦51,700.00), assorted food items, spoons, clothing materials, face caps and others articles,” Ndukwe revealed.

He further revealed that intense operations are underway to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
