The real reason Chelle wants a new contract as Super Eagles coach

OwnGoalNigeria.com has revealed the real reason why Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle is demanding a new deal.

Chelle still has one year left in his current contract as the team’s coach. Talks about an extension began after leading the team to a third-place finish at the AFCON in January, but not much progress has been made.

We have come to the conclusion that the impasse is in the region of their salaries, since the Malian demands around 150,000 dollars per month. A significant increase from his current salary of around $75,000.

Sources say the coach is pushing for a new deal because he wants to take the team to the next big tournament and feels that with the upcoming Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) elections, a new president could affect his desire to achieve the feat.

He wants a deal that will secure his future even if there is a regime change in the NFF with current president Ibrahim Musa Gusua fighting to keep his job, after failing to qualify the team for the world cup for the second consecutive edition.
