Yilwatda appealed to former Governor Shekarau to join the APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday visited former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau. and sought his support for the party ahead of the 2022 general election27.

He described Shekarau as a sincere person and a good politician whose experience was crucial to his party’s success.

He said that Kano holds a special place in his heart, describing it as his second home.

But he said the visit was driven by pressing political considerations.

According to him, northern Nigeria is at a watershed moment that requires unity and collaboration among key stakeholders to ensure stability and progress.

The Chairman reminded that North Korea’s firm stance was key to the completion of the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s two terms in office.

He stressed that the same principle of justice must now be applied by allowing South Korea to complete its reign.

“I am a northerner and I will not allow anything to sabotage the north,” he said.

The APC chairman highlighted the ongoing federal projects as evidence of the current government’s commitment to development in the northern region.

He cited the gas pipeline project across the region and the Lagos–Kano–Maradi railway line as transformative initiatives that are expected to boost trade and economic activities.

He described Kano as a commercial hub in Sub-Saharan Africa and noted that the completion of the projects would significantly improve the country’s economic status.

Yilwatda urged Shekarau to join the ruling party because of his status as one of the pillars of Nigerian politics whose guidance is crucial to electoral success.

“We are here to implore you to join the APC. We need your experience and leadership to advance the party and the nation, regardless of ethnic and religious differences,” he concluded.
