ADC crisis: Court will hear Nafiu-Bala Gombe’s lawsuit on April 14

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed April 14 for the hearing of a lawsuit filed by Nafiu-Bala Gombe seeking to stop former Senate President, David Mark, and others from parading themselves as leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Judge Emeka Nwite set the date after which the hearing notice was issued to the parties in the suit.

Gombe, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, has listed ADC, Mark, former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Chairman Ralph Nwosu as defendants in the suit.

Justice Nwite, on the last day of hearing, had adjourned the case sine die (indefinitely) to await the decision of the High Court.

The judge adjourned the matter indefinitely after the defendants’ counsel informed the court about the appeal filed against the lower court’s order.

However, the Court of Appeal, in its ruling on March 12, ordered the parties to return to court and maintain the status quo ante bellum pending the hearing and determination of the substantive lawsuit.

INEC had on April 1 removed the names of Mark and Aregbesola from its official portal and website as national chairman and national secretary of ADC respectively.
