Rivers: Stop fighting over inheritance, Fubara tells Opobo royal family

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the sons of the late Dandeson King Douglas Jaja, the Amanyanabo of Opobo, to avoid the temptation of fighting over assets left behind by their father.

Fighting would be a sure recipe for chaos and anarchy in the family.

The governor gave this advice while paying homage to the late monarch during the funeral service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo town, Rivers State.

Governor Fubara said that instead of wasting energy fighting for inheritance, members of the royal family should all work towards their personal success and preserve family peace and unity.

He argued that the fight over the inheritance was futile as the fight would only create division in the royal family while the assets would depreciate in value over time.

“What you inherit are assets. You don’t inherit success. You have to work for your success. So if you have that in mind, I don’t think there will be any crisis in the family.

“So, I want you to have him as your guide. He is a peaceful man and will be very saddened whenever he sees his family in disarray, fighting for the inheritance. Forget any inheritance or heritage that our late king left behind. With this, peace will automatically be in the family,” he said.
