ADC denies talks with PRP, claims commitment to legal battle

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports that it was in talks with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) ahead of a pending court ruling.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, described the claims as false.

Abdullahi said the coalition leadership is not currently engaged in any form of discussion or negotiation with any political party.

He stressed that the party remained focused on challenging what he described as illegal actions taken against its leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other groups.

Abdullahi expressed the ADC’s commitment to ensuring that such actions are quashed by the court.

“We believe this is the only path to safeguard the rule of law and ensure the survival of multi-party democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

The party spokesperson added that while it remains open to opposition alliances, the ADC will not abandon its responsibilities or stray from its commitment to restoring democracy.

“Therefore, any suggestion that we are considering abandoning the ADC is preemptive and speculative and should be ignored,” he added.

Abdullahi, however, expressed confidence in the judiciary, urging the courts to resist any pressure to be complicit in undermining the country’s democracy.(NAN)
