Tinubu removes Wale Edun as finance minister, appoints Oyedele

President Bola Tinubu has Mr Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

He also removed the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, in a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yomi Odunuga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, the development was contained in a memo signed by the SGF, George Akume.

Accordingly, Mr Taiwo Oyedele was appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

In line with that, Dr. Muttaqha Darma will take over as Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

“These changes aim to strengthen cohesion, synergy within government as well as achieve more impactful economic delivery for Nigerians, through the New Hope Agenda,” the memo read.

Edun was appointed Minister of Finance by President Tinubu in September 2023.

The President appointed Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance last month.
