Former Super Eagles striker collapses and dies during training in Kaduna

Former Nigerian international striker Michael Eneramo died early this morning during a routine training session in Kaduna, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The forward had an outstanding football career playing for teams such as Esperance of Tunisia, Turkish Besiktas, Sivasspor and Istanbul Basaksehir, among others.

He quit football in 2018, but usually stays fit on the field at a primary school located in a region called Ungwan Yelwa in Kaduna, close to where he lives.

In the early hours of this morning he was fine and completed the first 45 minutes, but he collapsed five minutes into the second half of the kickabout and died before reaching hospital.

Eneramo is fondly remembered for turning down offers to play for Tunisia, and made his debut against them, which he marked with a goal in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. It was the first of his ten international caps for Nigeria at senior level and he scored three goals in total.
