The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rejected a widely shared result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing the document as completely fake.
The alleged results, which gained attention on social media after being posted by X user @Onsogbu, stated that the female candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, achieved a near perfect score of 394 out of 400.
“Okon Winnifred Sampson, a young lady from Cross River State, delivered an outstanding performance in her UTME examination, with an outstanding score of 394 out of 400.
“The results are as follows: 96 in Use of English; 99 in Biology; 98 in Chemistry and 99 in Physics… a truly extraordinary academic achievement. I love this,” wrote Onsogbu.
Responding to the viral claims on Sunday, JAMB through its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, warned the public not to believe or share the results, stressing that they were fake.
“The purported result slips being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, are completely fake. It is surprising that such forgeries are also perpetrated by well-informed Nigerians,” the statement said.

Benjamin further clarified that the UTME results are not published in a format designed to be printed or shared widely, stating that the viral document clearly deviates from the official JAMB results structure.
“Firstly, the Board clearly stated that the UTME results are visible only. The documents being circulated appear on fake result templates, which in itself is sufficient indication that the documents are not genuine,” he said.
He also pointed out the discrepancy in the registration number printed on the slip, explaining that it did not match the format produced by the JAMB system.
“Secondly, the Management registration number is system-generated and does not follow the ‘20269’ pattern as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that at first glance show the results of fraud,” he added.
Reiterating its position, the Council urged the public to only rely on verified communication channels to obtain the latest accurate information regarding UTME results, and stressed that candidates can only view their results through official platforms for now.
“The public is strongly advised to ignore these fake results and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results are currently view-only,” said Benjamin.
