NDLEA sues 29-year-old man for illegal storage of 149.6kg

NDLEA achieves court-ordered seizure of $33.6 billion opioid cargo intercepted at Onne Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Wednesday, arraigned Abdulrahaman Shuaibu, 25, before the Federal High Court, Ibadan, for alleged illegal possession of 149.6kg of marijuana.

Shuaibu, however, pleaded not guilty to the two charges of illegal dealing and possession of narcotics.

The NDLEA lawyer, Mr DO Otunla, prayed the court to remand the accused to Agodi Prison pending bail application.

Consequently, Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered that Shuaibu be remanded in custody and adjourned the case to June 8 for hearing.

Otunla had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offenses on January 31 in Kisi town, Irepo Local Government Area of ​​Oyo State.

According to the prosecutor, NDLEA officers arrested the accused after he allowed his house to be used to store 149.6kg of Cannabis Sativa.

He said the offenses contravene the provisions of sections 14 and 11 (C) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
