The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled for October, will bring together key African football stakeholders, including presidents of the 54 CAF member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions and senior football administrators from across the continent.
The event is considered one of the most important meetings in African football governance, where strategic decisions relating to the development and future of the game on the continent are discussed.
Nigeria’s approval to host the event is seen as another strong indication of the country’s growing influence within African football administration.
In addition to the General Assembly, Nigeria will also host the CAF Awards ceremony, CAF’s glamorous annual event that celebrates the continent’s top football stars, coaches, teams and administrators.
The awards ceremony has become one of the biggest nights in African football, attracting global attention for its combination of football excellence, entertainment and celebration of African talent.
The hosting of both events is expected to boost Nigeria’s profile within continental football while creating opportunities for sports tourism, business participation and international visibility.
