Former Governor Mimiko joins APC, praises Tinubu’s reforms

Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Okusegun Mimiko, on Thursday joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The former governor joined the ruling party in Ward 7, Ondo West Local Government Area of ​​the state.

Mimiko, who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was received along with his supporters by party officials at the ward, local government and state levels.

In his remarks upon joining the APC, Mimiko said he joined the party to support the ongoing efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration in promoting peace, progress and development in the country.

He said: “There are many good things that the Tinubu-led government has done and much more needs to be done.

“I come to lend my support to the ongoing efforts to keep Nigeria on the path of true peace, progress and development.”

The former governor also praised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative and described it as a step towards democratizing access to education.

He further expressed his support for the ongoing efforts to decentralize policing in the country, and stated that the move is in line with his long-standing advocacy for state police forces.

The APC chairman in the state, Kolawole Babatunde, while welcoming Mimiko to the party, described him as “a progressive in every sense.”

According to him, the former governor recorded extraordinary achievements in the fields of health, education and infrastructure during his time in office.

“Mimiko is a progressive person and her entry into APC is like a homecoming,” Babatunde said.
