Grand Imam Cubana opens his voice on the defeat of APC Primary

Celebrity businessman, Cubana Chiefpriest has reacted to reports that he lost the APC primaries for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, by insisting that he never fully participated in the contest.

Reports emerged on Saturday that the socialite lost her party’s primary election to incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Canice Moore Nwachukwu, who is currently serving her second term. The report quickly gained traction across social media platforms.

According to him, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma informed him about the party’s zoning arrangements during consultations ahead of the primary elections. The chiefpriest said he was told it was not yet his local government’s turn to elect federal MPs for the constituency.

“The party’s decision was immediately communicated to me early Saturday morning before the primaries. I stayed away completely in light of the leadership and internal understanding reached,” he wrote, adding that no one saw him near the primaries because he had deliberately stayed away.

The businessman also dismissed rumors that he spent a lot of money or was in debt because of his political ambitions. He stated that his interest in the election was driven by a desire to serve his people and increase representation in the constituency. Despite stepping down, the Chiefpriest said he remains loyal to President Bola Tinubu and the APC, while insisting that the attention surrounding the issue only reflects the influence of his name.
