2027: Kano APC selects Governor Yusuf as consensus candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has selected Governor Abba Yusuf as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The decision was taken on Thursday at a party congress held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The event was attended by party leaders, elected officials, delegates and supporters from across the state.

Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Barau Jibrin moved the motion, saying Yusuf had demonstrated leadership and commitment to the development of Kano.

The motion was supported by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South, who said party members were united in supporting the gubernatorial candidacy and were confident of victory.

Chairman of the Principal Electoral Committee, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari, who represented the national leadership of the APC, said the support reflected Yusuf’s dedication to governance and public service.

He expressed optimism that his party would defend the state, citing the governor’s policies and programs.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Yusuf thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters for the trust reposed in him.
He promised to continue implementing community-oriented projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure.

The governor assured residents that his administration will maintain ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at improving living standards and driving economic growth in the state.
