The Nigerian Flamingos took a big step towards the next round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers after a convincing 5-0 victory over Guinea in the first leg of the second round.
Teenage sensation Harmony Chidi stole the show with a clinical hat trick in the first half as the Flamingos dominated from the opening whistle.
Chidi opened the scoring just a minute into the match before doubling Nigeria’s lead in the 12th minute. The prolific striker completed her hat-trick in the 36th minute to cap a devastating attacking performance before the break.
The Flamencos maintained their dominance after the break, and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the fourth goal two minutes later.
Mary Dunstan sealed the emphatic victory in the 56th minute as Nigeria tightened their grip on the qualifying tie with another impressive away performance.
The second leg is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, where the Flamingos will look to complete the job and get closer to another appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
