2026/2027 Session: NUC Approves 5 Programs for New Ebonyi Private University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has mandated a private higher institution, Euston University, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, to launch five academic programs for the 2026/2027 session, following a successful resource screening exercise.

The approval covers nursing sciences, medical laboratory sciences, public health, information technology and cybersecurity, according to a statement by acting vice-chancellor Professor Felicia Moh in Abakaliki at the weekend.

Moh said the approval follows an assessment by the NUC’s asset review team to determine the university’s readiness to launch the programmes.

The team examined the adequacy of the infrastructure, academic facilities, equipment and human resources required to deliver the proposed courses.

The statement said the verification team was received by the university’s principal officers and key officials, led by the acting vice-chancellor.

Reacting to the development, Moh expressed appreciation to the NUC for the exercise and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to meeting and upholding regulatory standards for quality higher education.

He commended the Chancellor of the university, Lady Eunice Egwu, for her vision and investment in the institution, particularly her efforts to expand access to quality higher education and create opportunities for youths in Ebonyi State and beyond.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor said the university has invested significantly in infrastructure, academic facilities and human resources to provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.

He also commended the leadership of the NUC for its reforms and commitment to improving the quality and relevance of university education in Nigeria.

The university described the approval as an important milestone in its development, paving the way for academic activities across the five programmes, and urged prospective students, parents and guardians to take advantage of admissions opportunities for the 2026/2027 session, stressing that available spaces are limited.

Lady Eunice is the wife of former Ebonyi State Governor, Sam Egwu.
