Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.
Omo-Agege, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide. Sunday Areh, announced his resignation in a letter dated May 22 and addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It would be recalled that Omo-Agege contested the APC senatorial primaries for Delta Central but lost to Senator Ede Dafinone.
In the letter. the former Deputy Senate President said recent developments within the Delta APC “influenced his decision after consulting with his political colleagues and supporters”.

He added that his political goals and the political goals of his constituents would be better achieved outside the ruling party.
“I will not remain silent in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta and Nigeria.
“I thank APC for the opportunity to serve as the 9th Vice President of the Senate.
“I wish the party well and ask that my name be removed from all membership records, lists and communication lists,” he said.
He also reiterated his commitment to development and effective representation for Delta Central and Nigeria.
