my life hack for talking to people who aren't nerds is asking if they have pets or want pets. if they say they don't like animals at all, then you know they're a freak, and you move on lol.

for anyone concerned about their kids, but also not rly keen on eliminating sleepovers, i think it is worth mentioning that teaching your child the correct terms for their bodily regions is actually a really good deterrent. if they know the term for their anatomy (penis/scrotum or vulva/vagina, it 1) shows that they have been taught about consent and bodily autonomy and 2) it makes it far more clear and precise if your kids need to report. it also means that people like police are less likely to blow it off because a family cute term was used, which could refer to anything; the anatomical terms don't have this problem.
3) it is actually a deterrent because of the fact reports will be taken more seriously.

the thing about teachers is that their job is to groom children into accepting the exploitative conditions of capitalism. i know this sounds harsh but it is the truth, if you accept that teachers are supposed to not just teach kids but prepare kids for work and you also accept that work is exploitative under capitalism then you cannot deny this.
