Accord’s national leadership has disowned Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
National Chairman of the party. Mr Maxwell Mgbuden, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, urged the public to ignore reports about the emergence of Olawepo-Hashim as the Accord presidential candidate.
Mgbuden said the presidential primaries in which Olawepo-Hashim emerged as a candidate were not conducted under the Accord and did not have any legal consequences.
“The presidential primary election in which he (Olawepo-Hashim) emerged as the presidential candidate was not conducted by our major party and did not have any impact,” the chairman said.

Mgbudenhad said the party did not have a presidential candidate within the time period stipulated in the guidelines, schedule and schedule of activities that had been approved and communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He added that no candidate had purchased the expression of interest and nomination form for the presidential election before the deadline.
These developments, he said, forced the party to cancel its scheduled primaries.
“Therefore, the election referee has been notified of the cancellation of the presidential primary election scheduled by the party,” he concluded.
