Equity markets stalled the bearish sentiment as investors made gains of ₦234 billion

Investors in the Nigerian equity market earned N234 billion at the close of trading on Friday.

This follows the rise in prices of shares such as Intenegins, Abbey Mortgage and Daar Communications, among others, on the stock exchange floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) rose to 242,593.31 points from 242,227.31 points recorded the previous day.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalization jumped to N155.5 trillion from N155.3 trillion recorded by the exchange on Thursday.

Market breadth was positive with 39 stocks rising, 11 declining, and 96 stocks unchanged in 53,826 transactions.

A total of 608,485,256 shares were traded worth N32 billion.

Intenegins, Abbey Mortgage and Daar Communications led the gainers chart, with share price growth of 10% closing at N7.26, N9.35 and N1.98 per share respectively, up from N6.60, N8.50 and N1.98 per share.

Academy, UPL and VFD Group led the rest of the price declines, with falls of 10%, 9.88% and 9.85% respectively, closing at N8.25, N5.10 and N10.35 per share, down from N9.15, N5.65 and N11.20 per share respectively.

On the volume index, Abbey Mortgage led trading with 164 million shares in 659 transactions, followed by Ella Lakes which traded 76 million shares in 294 transactions.

Access Holding Co traded 44 million shares in 2,127 transactions.

On the value index, Seplat traded shares worth N3.9 billion in 655 transactions, followed by Aradel, which traded equities worth N3.8 billion in 2,273 transactions.

MTN Nigeria traded shares worth N3.2 billion in 4,507 transactions.
