Tinubu saluted the security forces, calling on Nigerians to join the fight against terrorism

President Bola Tinubu paid tribute to members of the Nigerian security services for their resilience and commitment in confronting terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other threats to national peace, while urging citizens to play a more active role in safeguarding the country.

In a message shared on his

While addressing troops serving in various theaters of operation, Tinubu described them as the frontline defenders of the country, standing between law-abiding citizens and forces seeking to disrupt the stability of society.

“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, security and dignity of our communities,” Tinubu said.

The President acknowledged the gravity of their responsibilities, and noted that security personnel routinely serve in remote forests, difficult terrain, waterways, highways, military formations and air operations to maintain the country’s security.

According to him, the campaign against insecurity requires enormous sacrifice and perseverance from those tasked with defending the country.

“This struggle is not easy. It is accompanied by pain, pressure and sacrifice. But your courage remains steadfast. Your service is recognized. Your sacrifice is respected. Your country does not take you for granted,” he stressed.

Tinubu extended his praise beyond the military realm, acknowledging the contribution of officers and agents of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, intelligence agencies and various community-based security structures involved in maintaining law and order.

The President also paid special tribute to the families of serving personnel, remembering that behind every officer on active duty there are loved ones who bear the emotional burden of prolonged service and separation.

“I also thank the families behind this uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights and the emotional toll of carrying out your duties. Nigerians also remember those sacrifices,” he said.

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes, Tinubu commended the security personnel who lost their lives while defending the country, and said their sacrifice would remain an eternal part of Nigeria’s history.

“We honor those who have paid the ultimate price in defending our country. Their names may not always be trending, but their courage lives on in the communities they saved, the families they protected, and the survival of the nation they served,” he added.

The President stressed that the fight against terrorism and violent crime cannot be won by security agencies alone, and urged the public to support ongoing efforts through vigilance and timely intelligence sharing.

“The war on terror is not just a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing useful and timely information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve to eradicate criminal elements, Tinubu stated that Nigeria will not allow terrorists, kidnappers, bandits or violent extremists to dictate the country’s future or undermine its unity.

“Nigeria will not give in to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers or violent extremists to define who we are as a nation. Their violence is not our identity. Their hatred does not represent Nigerians of any religion, creed or community,” Tinubu said.

The President concluded his message by thanking security forces across the country for their vigilance, dedication and patriotism, while wishing them safety and success in continuing their mission to protect the nation and its people.
