The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar has granted African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore bail in the sum of N200 million and two sureties in the same amount.
The court said one of the guarantors must be a traditional ruler of the Sowore community, while the other must have property in Abuja.
Sowore will entrust his travel documents to the deputy court clerk.

The court had on June 16 revoked the bail granted to Sowore for failing to appear in court.
While delivering the judgment, Justice Umar noted Sowore’s readiness to stand trial as he did not wait to be arrested before he appeared in court.
He noted that the court would use its discretion in granting him bail.
Sowore’s legal counsel noted that his passport was at the US embassy in Lagos and he had to appear in person to get the passport so he could hand it over to the court.
The attorney further prayed to the court to release Sowore from their hands, so that they can fulfill his bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until July 6 for trial
Reacting outside the court, Sowore said, “There is no force in the world that can stop this revolution. We warned them, but they did not listen. I was given bail of ₦200 million. They are always after my passport. When we come to that bridge, we will cross it.”
