Tinubu reiterates desire to protect local foreign investments in Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of domestic and international investments, declaring that Nigeria, under his leadership, is ready and open for business.

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja during the official launch of the sales office and experience center for the landmark Abuja City Walk development project, the President, represented by his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, described the project as a tangible manifestation of his administration’s renewed hope agenda.

“We are not simply opening a building. We are revealing the window to a multibillion-dollar future. We are presenting a tangible manifestation of our agenda of renewed hope, carved in concrete, innovation and unwavering determination,” he said.

The President recalled a previous promise made to Nigerians on radical economic transformation and infrastructure renewal, saying that “the City Walk Experience Center represents proof that our administration does not just make promises, but keeps them with determination”.

On the feasibility of the project, the President said “the Abuja City Walk is a shining symbol of what can be achieved when political will meets private sector expertise and capital.

“By granting this corridor free trade zone status, we have further eliminated trade frictions, creating a fertile environment for regional trade, medical tourism, premium retail and high-end hospitality,” he said.

He commended the commitment of the FCT administration led by Minister Barr Nyesom Wike in realizing the project, saying “for 20 years the Abuja Technology Village corridor has remained dormant.

“Today, through aggressive land administration reforms and the eradication of bureaucratic inertia, it is transforming into a vibrant construction hub,” he said.

The President said with the Renewed Agenda of Hope, his administration is gradually putting a permanent end to the era of land speculation and abandoned megaprojects in Abuja.

“We have made it clear that land is a resource for rapid development, not a tool for developmental regression and speculative land grabbing.

“Through this development, we are pushing the boundaries of architectural and engineering possibilities in Africa. This magnificent project also underlines our deep belief that sustainable national development cannot be advanced by government alone,” he said.

He charged the FCT administration and project partners to maintain the intense momentum, insisting that the launch of the sales office and experience center must immediately translate into an accelerated execution of physical stores on site.

The FCT minister said the formal launch of the Abuja City Walk project was the realization of one of the cardinal objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, to attract foreign direct investment and create employment opportunities for Nigerians.

Wike said while it is the responsibility of government to provide an enabling environment for investments to thrive and create employment opportunities, citizens must play their part by supporting government policies and programs to ensure continuity and sustainability.

In an overview of the project, Executive Director of Link Development, Dr Kassim Gidado, said the occasion represented the beginning of a bold vision, the dedicated realization of a huge project milestone and the cornerstone of President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

He said the center was designed to provide, among other facilities, recreational venues, educational institutions, suitable residential accommodation, centers of worship, shopping malls, a free trade zone and a green corridor, all aimed at creating a city within the city of Abuja.
