Sadiq Umar suffers a hamstring injury

Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has suffered a hamstring injury, with Spanish La Liga club Valencia confirming the Nigeria international has been ruled out as he begins his recovery.

Umar was injured during Valencia’s 3-1 win over RC Deportivo de La Coruña on Sunday.

The striker scored in the win before being forced to leave the pitch after picking up an injury.

After medical tests, Valencia confirmed that Umar suffered a right hamstring injury.

Valencia begins rehabilitation of Umar

The Spanish club announced that the 29-year-old will undergo a personalized rehabilitation program under the supervision of its medical team.

“Following medical tests, it has been confirmed that Sadiq Umar has suffered a right hamstring injury, sustained during last Sunday’s match against RC Deportivo de La Coruña,” Valencia said in a statement.

The club added that Umar will receive medical treatment and physiotherapy at its training camp as he works to regain full fitness.

The Valencia CF striker will undergo a tailor-made program of medical care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation at the Club’s training ground until he has recovered sufficiently to return to full team training.

The return date remains unclear

Valencia did not reveal the severity of the injury or provide a specific timeline for Umar’s return to competitive action.

The attacker will then continue his recovery at the Club’s training ground, with a return to full training dependent on his response to treatment and rehabilitation.

The latest setback comes after Umar had enjoyed an encouraging spell in front of goal for Valencia, making the injury a new concern for both the Spanish club and the Super Eagles.
