2027: ADC names Rhodes-Vivour, Malami, Ashiru, Ogboru and others as gubernatorial candidates in 28 states

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has announced its gubernatorial and deputy governorship candidates in 28 states ahead of the 2027 general elections, fielding a list of prominent politicians including Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in Lagos, Abubakar Malami in Kebbi, Isa Mohammed Ashiru in Kaduna and Great Ogboru in Delta State.

The party announced the candidates in a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the selection reflected the ADC’s determination to offer credible leadership to Nigeria and what it described as a “real alternative” in the 2027 elections.

Among other prominent names on the list are Senator Halliru Dauda Kalau, who will contest elections in Bauchi; former member of Parliament Herman Iorwase Hembe in Benue; former MP Zakari Mohammed in Kwara; Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita in Katsina; and retired Brigadier General John Sunday Sura in Plateau State.

In Lagos, Rhodes-Vivour was named as the party’s gubernatorial candidate, with Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere selected as her running mate.

Former Kaduna State governorship candidate, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, will hoist the ADC flag in Kaduna alongside Kantiok Irmiya Ishaku as deputy governor candidate.

In Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru is paired with Afiari Gloria, while Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita will contest the Katsina governorship election with Aminu Yar’adua Ahmed as his running mate.

Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was also named as the ADC governorship candidate for Kebbi State, with Zagi Musa Mohammed elected as his deputy.

ADC said the emergence of these candidates is part of their preparations for the 2027 elections and their commitment to provide an alternative political platform to Nigerians.

Candidates from the party will contest in states including Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara, as well as Abia State.

This announcement comes ahead of the gubernatorial election on February 6, 2027, and campaigning is expected to begin on September 9, 2026.
