Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Burna Boy, has been announced as the headliner for the 2026 NFL Paris Game halftime show, marking another major international milestone for the Grammy Award-winning artist.
The National Football League announced on September 17 that Burna Boy would appear in the league’s first regular season game in France. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 25, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris.
This game will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints.
Burna Boy’s performance will bring his music to an international sports audience as the NFL continues to expand its international gaming and entertainment programming.
The singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, is one of Nigeria’s most recognized artists on the global music scene. His music has helped bring Afrobeats and Afro-fusion to audiences outside of Africa.
The upcoming show will also mark Burna Boy’s return to the Stade de France. In April 2025, he became the first African artist to perform a solo concert at the stadium. The concert reportedly sold out 80,000 tickets.
Responding to the announcement, Burna Boy said returning to the stadium for another big event was important to him. He also said he would represent African music during the historic NFL event.
The NFL said Burna Boy’s international profile and previous connections with the Stade de France made him a suitable player for the event. Tim Tubito, the league’s senior director of global games presentation, music and entertainment, said African music had an important presence in Paris.
Other artists announced for the international NFL game include the Jonas Brothers, Ricky Martin, Ayra Starr, Cage The Elephant and The Warning.
Burna Boy’s upcoming performance also adds to the growing number of Nigerian musicians performing at major international sporting events. Nigerian artists are increasingly bringing Afrobeats to a global audience through events related to football, basketball and other major sporting competitions.
The NFL has yet to announce full details of Burna Boy’s halftime set or whether other artists will join him on stage.
