Kaduna: Uba Sani to pay off inherited debts, contractors hail governor

Governor Uba Sani has been praised for introducing a monthly payment plan to clear verified debts inherited from the previous administration.

The President of Kaduna State Contractors Association, Engr. Ahmed Baba, disclosed this after a meeting between senior government officials and the management of the association in Kaduna.

Engr Baba said Governor Uba Sani inherited huge responsibilities but demonstrated that governance is a continuous process by taking steps to pay contractors’ debts.

According to him, the monthly payment arrangement would ensure that verified inherited liabilities are systematically settled, thereby easing the financial burden on contractors who had previously executed projects for Kaduna state.

“Despite inheriting a huge burden of outstanding liabilities, His Excellency has demonstrated real leadership, making it clear that government is a continuum and that contractors must not suffer for their service to the State.

“The monthly payment structure approved by the Governor is a lifeline for many of our members,” he noted.

Engr Baba further said that since the beginning of Governor Uba Sani’s administration, contractors handling projects awarded by the current government have not been indebted.

The contractor’s president described the development as encouraging for the construction industry.

According to Baba, the association appreciates the governor’s efforts and is committed to supporting the administration’s infrastructure development programme.

The President of the Association urged contractors to maintain quality and timely delivery of projects across the state to reciprocate the gesture of Governor Uba Sani.
