Nigeria and the Czech Republic deepen trade and investment ties

Nigeria and the Czech Republic have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, security and economic development.

The development follows high-level discussions between officials of the two countries on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka, on 23 September 2026.

During the meeting, the two countries discussed ways to improve economic relations and increase cooperation in various fields.

Nigeria highlights investment opportunities in industry, infrastructure, technology and innovation. Nigerian officials also encouraged more Czech entrepreneurs to invest and participate in the Nigerian economy.

Trade and investment were identified as important areas for strengthening relations between the two countries.

It is hoped that this discussion will create more opportunities for businesses from Nigeria and the Czech Republic to work together.

Nigeria is also seeking international partnerships that can support industrial, technological and infrastructure development.

Recent discussions demonstrate efforts by both countries to expand their economic ties and create more trade and investment opportunities.
