The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, in connection with the death of a man whose body was later found along the Kubwa Expressway.
Police said they also arrested two staff members of Good Samaritan Guest House on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, who removed the body from the hotel room and dumped it along Kubwa Expressway.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja on Saturday.
The CP said the discovery of the body, like many others along highways and bridges in the territory, has created fear and anxiety among residents, many of whom attribute such incidents to “One Chance” robbery and kidnapping.
Sanusi said the suspect and the deceased had stayed at the hotel to spend time together before the man died.
He said the Rukayata allegedly did not raise the alarm after discovering that the deceased was no longer breathing, but instead left the hotel with his mobile phone.
According to the CP, the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered on August 26, 2026, along the Kubwa Expressway at Katampe, under the bridge, amid concerns over the circumstances of his death.
He said the incident was initially suspected to be a “one chance” case, while the family of the deceased had previously reported him missing.
“When the lifeless body was later discovered on the side of the road, our investigators began working to establish whether it could be linked to the previous missing person report.
“Through painstaking investigation, we were led to finally confirm that the deceased was the same person who had previously been reported missing by his family,” Sanusi said.
The police chief said investigators discovered that the deceased’s cellphone was missing and began tracking the device.
Although the phone was switched off, investigators reportedly identified the last person the deceased had communicated with, leading to the identification and arrest of Rukayat, a resident of Garki Area 2.
Sanusi said further investigation revealed that the suspect, a married woman, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact on her phone as “Safiyat”.
He said the investigation also established that the suspect and the deceased had been staying at the Good Samaritan Guest House, where they had spent time together.
“The suspect informed us that she found that the deceased was no longer breathing and was dead. Instead of immediately reporting the incident to the police, the suspect took the deceased’s cell phone and left the hotel,” he said.
The CP added that several hours later, as the hotel management failed to establish contact with the occupants of the room, the body of the deceased was discovered inside the room.
However, instead of reporting the matter to the police, two members of the hotel management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe under the bridge, where they dumped it on the roadside.
Sanusi said the action was apparently aimed at distancing the hotel and its management from the incident.
He stressed that an investigation into the case is underway to establish all the circumstances of the man’s death.
