Kizz Daniel reveals the family tragedy that made him take a break from music

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed why he took a break from music this year.

The singer said his decision was related to the death of his mother, who died earlier this year.

Kizz Daniel made this known while responding to a fan on X on Friday.

His fan, @VicroyDominion1, suggested the singer may have left because he was working on a new album.

However, Kizz Daniel explained that his break has nothing to do with a new music project.

He said he needed to take a break because he lost his mother.

“I stopped for a moment for my mother, not the album. Lost her this year, but I have to keep moving for the sake of the whole family. Sorry I came late this year,” he said.

The singer’s comments come after he remained relatively quiet on the music scene for most of the year.

Kizz Daniel has continued to release music and perform internationally in recent years, but his activities have been more limited this year following the loss of his family.

The singer previously spoke about another family loss involving his wife. In 2025, he revealed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024.

Despite the difficult times, Kizz Daniel says he is determined to keep going and support his entire family.
