Kogi University graduates 44 first classes, 56 withdraw, expels 1 for exam cheating

The Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has approved the graduation of 44 students with first class honors for the 2025/2026 academic session, even as it ordered the withdrawal of 56 students and expelled one for gross examination misconduct.

In a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Public Affairs, Uredo Omale, on Sunday, he said the decisions were taken during the 168th regular meeting of the institution’s Senate held on Wednesday, following the consideration of second semester examination results between faculties and departments.

According to the release, analysis of the Senate resolution shows that the 56 affected students were withdrawn for poor academic performance, failure to enroll for two consecutive semesters and other academic deficiencies in line with university regulations.

“Of these, 11 students were withdrawn due to poor academic performance, while a larger number failed to meet registration requirements for consecutive semesters. Another seven were withdrawn due to failed modules and coursework deficiencies,” the statement said.

In a related development, the Senate approved the expulsion of a student, Jude Ojoajogwu Itodo of the Department of Plant Sciences and Biotechnology, for gross examination misconduct after considering the report of the Examination Misconduct Committee.
