Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has advised the opposition to reach out to the people directly through campaign rallies, instead of reacting to what the All Progressives Party (APC) is doing on social media.
The governor who highlighted this during an interview with TVC, a Lagos-based television station, on Sunday evening, further said that βif you are campaigning to win elections, you have to go out and meet the peopleβ.
According to him, “the only party I see coming out through town hall meetings, other than our party, is probably the APM. I’m surprised. I’ve seen them walking around. But the same can’t be said with ADC and NDC.”
“Are they reaching out to the public, especially the downtrodden? The answer is no. Have they worked out any strategy for their campaign? The answer is no. You can’t run a campaign by reacting to what another party is doing. Go and do your own campaign,” he advised.
The governor noted that instead of seeking support from the people, the opposition is using digital technology such as artificial intelligence, manipulating images and posting them on social media to denigrate APC.
He expressed optimism that the ruling APC is doing very well because “we are the only party that is reaching out to the people, that is talking to the people. So, whether the opposition decides to unite or not, it is none of our business.”
Governor Uba Sani recalled that the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatada, promised that the North will give President Bola Tinubu 70% of its votes, promising that Kaduna State will give a higher percentage.
βIn Kaduna State, allowing any candidate to get even 25% of the vote is a failure on our part,β he promised.
The governor cited various projects that the President has implemented in Kaduna State in the last three and a half years, which the people would never have dreamed of, adding that βnow we can see the development, we can see the intervention, we can see the supportβ.
He commended the President for handing over the Ahmadu Bello Stadium to the Kaduna State Government, promising to rebuild it into a 33,000-seater stadium to FIFA standards.
Governor Uba Sani also highlighted the reconstruction of the 123km Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, saying $178 billion had been allocated for the project, which had been abandoned for more than 40 years.
The Kaduna State Governor also thanked President Tinubu for the ongoing reconstruction of the Zaria-Soba-Kambuwa road and the proposed Kaduna light rail project, the second in the country.
According to him, $865 million has been approved for the railway project, while the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, has been mobilized with $300 million.
Governor Uba Sani also revealed that Kaduna State now has four federal universities, including the Federal University of Education, Zaria, the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia and the proposed Shehu Musa Yar’adua University of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna, as well as the Kaduna Polytechnic which has been converted into the Federal University of Technology.
According to him, βthe only way the good people of Kaduna state can reciprocate this kind gesture is to vote en masse for President Tinubuβ.
