For the Horns, it was a resounding response to their recent struggles. For the Alphas, it was another painful afternoon as their search for an attacking breakthrough ended in frustration against an organized and determined opponent.
The contest initially offered little indication of the punishment that awaited Rivers Alphas, with both teams struggling to capitalize on their early opportunities. But once Adebare Adejumo connected with Nwokolo Prominence for a 20-yard touchdown, Gateway Horns took control and never looked back.
Adejumo, who also serves as commissioner of the Showtime Flag Football League, was instrumental on the field, confidently directing the Horns’ offense and recording a game-leading 9.6 fantasy points.
He followed up his first touchdown pass with further scoring connections with Adewole Mosimiloluwa, Odimbu Awele Gift and Omadhebo David, repeatedly exposing gaps in the Alphas’ defence.
Prominence was named the game’s MVP, earning a 7.7 performance rating after recording one receiving touchdown, 28 receiving yards, and 3.2 fantasy points. His contribution helped establish the momentum that carried Gateway to a comprehensive victory.
Omadhebo was equally influential, finishing with 7.0 fantasy points, while Odimbu added 4.0 to round out the Horns’ leading fantasy trio behind Adejumo.
Gateway’s defense also produced clutch moments. Adekunle Waliya returned an interception for a touchdown, while Ogunmoyede Caroline repeatedly disrupted pass attempts. Judah Arowojolu contributed important interceptions as Rivers struggled to maintain significant attacking pressure.
For the Alphas, quarterback Michael Scofield endured a difficult outing despite connecting with Travis Akinwunmi, Adeoye Anuoluwapo and Umeri Ruth Eberechukwu at different stages. Their efforts ultimately failed to break Gateway’s defensive resistance.
The Horns had already built a considerable lead at half-time, and their superiority continued after the break.
The official full-time scoreboard confirmed a 38-0 victory, boosting Gateway Horns’ confidence as Season XV gains momentum.
For Rivers Alphas, the challenge now is to regroup and find answers before their next task. For the Gateway Horns, this was a performance that demanded league-wide attention.
The Horns have sounded a warning. The rest of Showtime’s Season XV is now a must-listen.
