D’Tigers Set for FIBA Africa Qualifiers

Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, are gearing up for a return to action in the upcoming FIBA Afrobasket qualifiers scheduled to commence in February 2024.

D’Tigers missed out on securing a ticket to the 2024 Olympic Games, but the team will regroup for the qualifiers with the hope of making a strong comeback.

 

FIBA Africa has officially released the draw for the qualifiers, placing Nigeria in Group B.

The qualifiers are structured with multiple windows to accommodate different groups.

According to the schedule, the first qualifying window is slated to take place from February 19 to 27 and will feature the entry of groups B, E, and D.

Following this, Groups A and C will have their turn in the first qualifying window, scheduled from November 18 to 26, 2024.

The final window of the qualifiers is set for February 17 to 25, 2025, bringing the qualification process to its conclusion.

While the countries hosting these qualifying windows have not been designated as of yet, the announcement sets the stage for Nigeria’s preparation and participation in the upcoming qualifiers.

Result of Group Draw:

Group A: South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Q Z6 + Mauritius + Comoros

Group B: Cape Verde, Nigeria, Q Z1 + Z2, Uganda

Group C: Senegal, Cameroon, Q Z3 +Z4, Rwanda

Group D: Ivory Coast, Egypt, Central African Republic, Q Z5 + Madagascar + Djibouti

Group E: Tunisia, Angola, Guinea, Kenya
