Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has declared he’ll wear a protective face mask for the remainder of his professional football career.
This decision stems from a harrowing incident in November 2021 when Osimhen endured multiple facial fractures in a collision with Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar during a Serie A game.
The surgeon overseeing Osimhen’s treatment disclosed that the corrective procedure involved the use of three plates and six screws to address the facial fracture.
Since his recovery, the 25-year-old has been consistently utilizing a face mask during matches.
Speaking to BRL, Osimhen affirmed that the the protective gear has become a part of his identity, stating that he has no plans to play without it in the foreseeable future.
“I have to wear the mask for the rest of my football career. I still have screws in my jaw and face,” he confirmed.
“During the game against Cagliari, I got punched on my face by the goalkeeper and I bled from my eye socket. So it’s dangerous to play without mask,” He said.
