‘Lagos Boy’ Onome Oluwaseyi Reveals Strategy That Helped Giant Brillars Beat Hosts

Former Ikorodu City of Lagos dazzling midfielder, Onome Oluwaseyi Falodun has revealed the strategy that helped his current team, Giant Brillars of Enugu, snatch an away victory in The Centre of Excellence on Friday.

A 2-1 result against Trade Safe FC of Lagos helped Giant Brillars pull off a second straight win in the lower division Nigerian National League (NNL) and climb up to seventh position on the log, while their hosts stay rooted to bottom spot, after failing to win for a sixth match on the trot.

Trade Safe’s last victory was back in December when they silenced Crown FC of Ogbomosho at home, but two draws and four defeats, including their latest setback on Friday, have apparently confirmed their relegation to the third-tier Nationwide League One (NLO).

However, while the Agege-based side was gnashing their teeth over another bad result, despite having won the first leg away, Onome  Oluwaseyi is relishing another hilarious outing with his team from The Coal City.

“Today’s encounter was an easy one,” the Lagos-born youngster beamed with glee.
“I can say we gave them a taste of their poison. We played them well in the first leg, but it ended 1-0 in their favour.

It was a match we lost based on hard luck. That’s why we came here with everything to get revenge, and we got it.”

Onome went on to explain the strategy employed by his coach to ensure victory for his side, adding: “We played more of attacking football.

“That’s unlike any Nigerian team would do in an away game. They would rather defend, but we played more attacking, and we got the goals that gave us the points.”

He concluded with an air of optimism heading into their next game and, though he admitted that their chances of making the promotion play-off are slim, Onome stressed that Gaint Brillars will stay focused till the season’s last whistle.

“Thank God for the three points. We take home victory and three crucial points; because where we currently are on the log is not very good.

“Now, we’ll go back home and work hard for our next game. We need to win again, so we’ll come up a little bit on the table,” Onome concluded.
