Super Falcons and Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala is optimistic about Nigeria’s ability to defeat their opponents at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

After a hard-fought back-and-forth match in which the Super Falcons defeated South Africa’s Bayana Bayana 1-0 on aggregate, they secured their spot at the Paris Olympics.
Full of optimism and anticipation, Asisat Oshoala believes that the Super Falcons can do it again despite being in the same group as Spain, Brazil and Japan.
Oshoala also added that he wants to compete in the Olympics against his former Barcelona teammates.
“This will be a special event. I had never been to the Olympics before, but I had heard a lot about them. I’m looking forward to it, if I make the team! People said the same thing at last year’s World Cup. They said we were in the group of death. [with Australia, Canada, and the Republic of Ireland] and we couldn’t qualify, but we did it.”
“I have a lot of confidence in this team. We have many young players and we can make things difficult for our rivals. We don’t just think about leaving the group. I think we can take home a medal,” said the two-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winner in an interview with fifa.
“I know what I can do. I know what I offer on and off the court. Even when he was on the best team in the world he knew what he could contribute. “I work hard for the team and try to make sure I do my part of the business and that way everyone takes care of their business too.”
“Our team will not stop running until we hear the whistle. That is difficult for rival teams because they cannot defeat us,” Oshoala concluded.
Asisat Oshoala played off the bench in Nigeria’s Olympic qualifying matches against Cameroon and South Africa but is still confident he has plenty to offer Randy Waldrum’s team.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games begin on July 26 and will run until August 11. After 16 years, Nigeria has finally qualified for Olympic women’s football again.
