National Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has directed the 23 local government chairmen in the state to hand over the posts to the administrative heads of their various councils.
Fubara gave the guidance in a statewide broadcast Tuesday morning.

The order was issued after the end of the terms of office of the council leaders who refused to vacate their posts, relying on court orders and claimed their terms were extended by six months.
The three-year terms of the chairman, vice chairman and elected board members expire Monday.
