Bauchi SWAN elects new officers

The Bauchi State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Thursday elected a new set of officers who will conduct its affairs for the next three years in accordance with the statute of the association.

The election was chaired by SWAN North East Zonal Vice President, Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi, supported by the National Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Austin Ajayi and former National Officer, Alh Shehu Abass aka Osculator.

The newly elected state executives are: Bala Bawaji of FRCN, Globe FM – President, Adamu Shehu Imrana of Trust TV, Vice President, Elizabeth Kah of BATV, Secretary, Selya Yarnap of Champion Newspapers, Treasurer, Abubakar Usman Shehu of BATV, Financial Secretary, Imrana Yakubu Galaje of BRC, Social Welfare Officer and Mubarak Aliyu Bako of Albarka FM – Deputy Secretary.

The duo of Mohammed Nasiru Shuaibu of the Telegraph and Abdullahi Shehu Yankari were appointed ex officio in a friendly and peaceful atmosphere held at the conference room of the Bauchi State Secretariat of the NUJ.

In his remarks, SWAN National President Comrade Isaiah Benjamin highlighted the importance of unity and friendship among sports journalists across the country, considering the fact that they are responsible for making people relax with the various reports they write.

The National President hates the division among the members saying that he is only interested in having a strong, virile and united SWAN throughout the country.

He then charged the newly elected and sworn-in EXCO members to lead with God’s fair and carry all members regardless of their affiliations before and during the elections.
