A man, whose identity is still being withheld, on Monday, climbed a pole on Katampe Hill in Abuja, declaring his readiness to sacrifice his life to solve the problems facing Nigerians.
According to a suicide note found at the base of the ship’s mast, he demanded the restoration of fuel subsidies among other measures to alleviate the hardships facing Nigerians.
His note stated, “This is a major problem in Nigeria, and I am ready to sacrifice my life to find a solution. I call on fellow Nigerians to join me in this unrest.”
In a detailed list of five demands aimed at addressing the pressing challenges facing Nigeria, he wrote, “On behalf of my fellow Nigerians, I demand the following: The government must restore fuel subsidies.
“The government should declare a state of emergency in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Borno over the issue of insecurity and take immediate action to eradicate terrorism in the above-mentioned states and the country as a whole.
