Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, said on Monday, July 8, that the recent bombings in Gwoza and Pulka towns of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State were aimed at embarrassing the government. During a courtesy call on Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, General Musa assured Nigerians that the perpetrators of these acts would not succeed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining security and stability.
He said: “The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure that there is peace and security in the country. What happened in Gwoza clearly shows that those who have bad or malicious intentions for the country are not giving up. And so, we must continue to work hard.” “It was a deliberate thing to embarrass the government, but they failed.
Recently, we have managed to arrest people with IED equipment who were trying to blow up some installations. We will continue to work here. Our appeal to Nigerians is that the people who are perpetrating this evil act are within us. They are sleeping and living in our environment. “If we report as soon as possible, action will be taken. Security cannot be everywhere. We are not magicians. We also rely on the information we receive from people. That is why we appeal to Nigerians that the responsibility to protect Nigeria depends on the cooperation of all Nigerians with the security agencies. We are committed to ensuring that this is achieved.”
