The heartbreaking discovery was made in Tayi village near Minna, Niger State, where the lifeless body of a baby believed to be a day old was found in a farmland.

The Police Command in Niger confirmed the incident and has launched an investigation into the matter.

The incident is currently under investigation, with police working closely with the community to identify and arrest the person responsible for dumping the baby.

A local resident, who did not want to be named, shared his thoughts on the matter, saying, “The person must have abandoned the baby while it was still alive, but due to exposure to severe cold, the baby died. This is the first time we have seen such an incident in our area.”

The tragic incident has raised concerns about the welfare and support available to new mothers, particularly those who may face stigma or hardship. The police investigation is ongoing, and it is hoped that justice will be served for the abandoned baby.
