The Government of Abia State on Wednesday vowed to examine the traditional rulers suspected of hiding criminals in the state.
State Information Commissioner, Mr. Okey Kanu, stated this while giving a briefing to journalists about the results of the meeting of the State Executive Council on Wednesday in Umuahia.
Kanu said the security operator would invade the region where elements that violated the law were believed to be protected.
The commissioner emphasized that traditional ruler who was considered guilty to provide protection or protection to criminals would be carried out to face full legal weight.
Kanu, therefore, urged the city union and traditional rulers to fulfill their duties to maintain security and vigilance in their community.
He said: “A few weeks ago, there was a kidnapping incident in Ukwa involving a prominent business mogul and a sons and daughter of this part.
“The security authority has confirmed his release, and he is in good health as verified by a medical professional.”
Kanu reiterated the government’s commitment to the safety and security of the country’s people.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious movements or activities to appropriate security institutions.
