Troops arrest 3, recover AK 47 in Benue

Troops of the Chief of Army Staff XI Intervention Battalion under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested three suspected criminals and recovered AK47 rifles in Benue State.

This was stated by Acting Media Information Headquarters OPWS Lt. Gen. Ahmad Zubairu in his statement, Friday, in Makurdi.

He said the suspects were arrested on March 26 in Agasha, Guma Local Government, during a pre-monsoon operation.

The spokesperson said the suspects were Mr Sule Ibrahim, Mr Salmanu Risko and Mr Abdulkareem Haruna.

“The items found in the operation included one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, twenty-seven rounds of 7.62 mm x 39 ammunition, one Tecno cell phone, a short sword, ten packs of alcohol, and various kinds of charms.

“The suspects are in army custody for initial investigation and subsequent prosecution by the authorities,” he said.
